Canada 2 Ottawa

Here we have the Parliament building in Ottawa, and as
you know last week a terrible event happened.

Inside the Centre Block , how that guy got in there we don't
understand , because there is a lot of security.

This is the House of Commons  where the  parlement
comes together ( green chamber ) (onze tweede kamer ).

This is the senate  ( éérste kamer ) in red , emblematic of the
Upper House and its link to royalty. When the Queen attends
the Senate the Speaker chair is removed.

The Library of Parliament created in the 1790s was in Kingston
Montréal Toronto and Québec City , and finally Ottawa 1876.
In 1916 a fire destroyed most of the Centre Block , but the
Library's iron doors isolated it from the blaze.

We did have a lot of patience , so we could get at the top
and enjoy the scenery.

All you see are mostly governement buildings,

War Memorial nearby the Canadian parliament.

This is the place where last week the attack took place.

At the moment we visit the Memorial it was  raining ,
but the two Canadian soldiers kept standing guard
at the National War Memorial.

Queen Victoria chose Ottawa as the capital  of Canada

Ons laatste bezoek 2013 bij tante in Kensington Gardens
in Toronto. De laatste jaren spraken we meestal Fries,
het was er altijd gezellig en de port smaakte goed.

Helaas dit jaar waren we net een week te laat.
